Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has announced the beginning of the interim government`s "second phase" starting today, following formal communication with the Election Commission regarding the next general election.
During the opening remarks of an advisory council meeting held Thursday at the Secretariat, Yunus stated that the government`s first phase concluded on August 5. His remarks were later conveyed to the media by Press Secretary Shafiqur Alam.
According to Alam, the Chief Adviser informed the Election Commission on Wednesday that the election should be held before Ramadan in February.
“From today, the second phase begins, and the main focus of this phase will be to ensure a free, fair, and well-organized election,” Yunus was quoted as saying.
